Ralph the Chocolate Lab

I had the loveliest Sunday morning photographing Ralph, a gorgeous chocolate Labrador, at Hengistbury Head.

Ralph was absolutely in his element from the moment we arrived — sand, sea, sunshine and his favourite toys. He spent most of the shoot charging in and out of the water, proudly carrying his ring, splashing through the waves and showing off exactly why beach shoots are so perfect for dogs who love to run, swim and play.

One of my favourite things about photographing dogs like Ralph is capturing all that natural joy. No stiff posing, no pressure to sit perfectly for every photo — just letting him be himself. The result was a gallery full of movement, sandy paws, wet fur, big Labrador smiles and those brilliant action shots that show his personality so clearly.

We also took some quieter moments away from the water, walking through the dunes and capturing a few portraits with his owner. Those little in-between moments are always so special, especially when you can see the bond between a dog and their person.

Ralph was an absolute star, and Hengistbury Head was the perfect backdrop for him. A beautiful location, a happy Labrador, and a sunny Sunday morning by the sea — it doesn’t get much better than that.
