Margaret Green Country Dog Show 2025

This weekend, I had the pleasure of spending a beautiful sunny day at the Margaret Green Animal Rescue’s Church Knowle centre, camera in hand, ready to capture the fun and festivities of their annual dog show. This year was extra special, as MGAR celebrated an incredible 60 years of animal rescue services – six decades of dedication, compassion, and life-changing work for animals in need.

The event was a heartwarming mix of wagging tails, smiling faces, and friendly competition. From the excitement of the Dog Show rings, where proud owners and their four-legged friends strutted their stuff, to the Rescue Dog Reunion where past MGAR residents returned for cuddles and catch-ups, there was a wonderful sense of community and shared love for animals.

The show rings were filled with a variety of classes – from “Best Rescue” and “Most Appealing Eyes” to the ever-charming “Dog Most Like Their Owner.” The agility course brought high-energy action, with dogs darting through tunnels and leaping over jumps, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd.

Everywhere you looked, there were moments worth capturing – a content pup cooling off in the shade, a proud first-place ribbon winner posing for the camera, and families enjoying ice creams while their dogs made new friends.

What struck me most was the warm, welcoming atmosphere. MGAR staff and volunteers, easily spotted in their shirts and big smiles, made sure everyone felt at home. Their passion for animal welfare shone through, reminding us why events like this are so important – not just for fundraising, but for celebrating the bond between humans and animals.

It was a joy to document the day through my lens, and I left with a full memory card, a happy heart, and an even deeper admiration for the incredible work MGAR continues to do. Here’s to the next 60 years of changing lives, one paw at a time.
