Some bonds are written in the stars.

Scamp’s story began far from here in the UAE where Tanya was serving in the forces. He was just a couple of years old when their paths crossed, and from that moment on, their lives became intertwined. Tanya rescued him and brought him home, giving him not just safety, but a life full of love, adventure, and belonging.

For 13 years, Scamp has been her loyal companion, her shadow, her comfort, and her joy. Now at the grand age of 15, he is nearing the end of his journey. It is a stage of life that so many pet owners find unbearably hard, yet it is one we speak about far too little. Pet grief is real. It is raw, it is heavy, and it deserves to be acknowledged.

Tanya kindly gave me permission to capture and share these precious moments between them. They are tender, emotional, and filled with gratitude for a lifetime together. These photographs hold the weight of goodbye, but they also celebrate an incredible story of love that began half a world away.

Though heartbreaking, this session was beautiful beyond words. These memories will be with Tanya forever, long after Scamp has crossed the rainbow bridge.
