Perdy and Pongo

When I first met Pongo and Perdy at Sandbanks Beach, Perdy wasn’t quite sure what to make of me… or my camera. 🐾📸

Some dogs take a little time to decide whether the strange human pointing a big black object at them is trustworthy, and Perdy was definitely in that camp at first! So we took things slowly. I offered their mum the chance to hold my camera and let Perdy have a good sniff and investigation. Before long she realised it wasn’t anything to worry about — just another interesting object at the beach.

Once she’d decided the camera was a friend and not something to fear, her confidence came out and she relaxed beautifully into the session. Seeing that moment when a dog settles and starts to enjoy themselves is always so special, and after that Perdy was more than happy to show off alongside Pongo.

From that point on the whole shoot was just pure fun — running along the sand, playing together and enjoying the sea air. Watching the two of them race around, bounce off each other and have the best time made it such a joyful session to photograph.

Sandbanks is one of my favourite locations for shoots, and spending the morning there with these two gorgeous Dalmatians really was the perfect reminder of why I love photographing dogs so much. 🐶✨📸
